Kid Asks for Help Boat in Storm Drain Clown Prank Funny

Red Balloons Are Popping Up on Sewer Grates in 'It'-Inspired Prank

A local Pennsylvania police station reported the prank and asked the clown who did it to "not do that again"

The town of Lititz, Pennsylvania got a visit from Pennywise this week — or rather, some pranksters pretending to be him.

On Tuesday, three days before "It" is set to hit theaters, several red balloons were seen tied to sewer grates throughout Lititz, in a reference to the infamous scene where Georgie Denborough followed his paper boat into a storm drain and was taken away by Pennywise to parts unknown.

"We give points for creativity," Lilitz Police said in a Facebook post. "However, we want the local prankster to know that we were completely terrified as we removed these balloons from the grates and we respectfully request they do not do that again."

After their post went viral, Lilitz PD followed it up with a second post announcing they had put a detective on the case, and posted a picture of a man in a clown wig checking for fingerprints.

"Don't worry everyone, we'll have the person or 'thing' responsible in custody in no time, these guys really know what they're doing!" the post joked.  "P.S. Don't tell them that Clowns wear gloves, we want to see how long this keeps them occupied!"

"It" can be seen in theaters nationwide this Friday.
